I was born in Paris, the city of lights, where I grew up surrounded by art, culture, and history. Paris is a beautiful and vibrant place, but it is not the only one that has shaped me as a person.
My heart also belongs to Marseille, the port city in the south of France, where my mother comes from. Marseille is a melting pot of different cultures, languages, and traditions, and it has a distinct charm and energy that I love. Whenever I visit my relatives there, I feel a strong connection to my roots and heritage.
They say our origins shape our preferences, and if that’s the case, then my veins must be flowing with the divine nectar that is Burgundy wine. Yes, on my father’s side, I’m rooted in the rich, fertile soil of Burgundy, where the vines are as old as the traditions.
But wait, don’t pull the cork just yet! Even though my heart beats to the rhythm of the Burgundy grape harvest, my taste buds have recently discovered the sun-drenched charm of the wines of Occitania. My new home, with its breathtaking landscapes and wines as deep as the region’s history, has won me over.
So, is it a betrayal of my wine-growing homeland to say that I have a soft spot for these newcomers to my cellar? Perhaps it is. But the heart has its reasons that reason ignores, especially after a few glasses.
And yet, there’s always that little voice, a distant echo of Burgundy, that calls me to order when I’m about to choose between a Burgundy and a Bordeaux. “Remember where you come from,” it whispers, as my hand hesitates. But Occitanie, with its open arms and welcoming vineyards, whispers softly to me, “There’s always room for one more glass.”
At the end of the day, I raise my glass to all my favourite regions. Whether it’s the refinement of Burgundy, the robustness of Bordeaux, or the boldness of Occitania, each sip is a journey through time and space, a tribute to my roots and my new home.
Being born in Paris and having a heart in Marseille and red blood from Burgundy flowing through my veins has given me the best of all worlds. I have learned to appreciate the diversity and richness of France, and to embrace both the similarities and differences between its regions. I have also developed a passion for traveling and exploring new places, as well as a curiosity for learning and discovering new things.
In this blog, I will share with you some of my experiences, thoughts, and opinions about life, culture, and everything in between. I hope you will enjoy reading it and join me in this journey.
